The City of Tyler has received the Certificate of Achievement Award for Excellence in Financial Reporting for its fiscal year 2019-2020 Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR). This is the 35th consecutive year that the City of Tyler has received this prestigious award.
“This award is a significant achievement reflecting the commitment of the City of Tyler to meet the highest principles of governmental budgeting,” said City of Tyler Chief Financial Officer Keidric Trimble. “The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting, and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management.”
The award was granted by the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) and was presented to the Mayor and Council during the Wednesday, Jan. 26 City Council meeting.
The City of Tyler’s CAFR has been judged by an impartial panel to meet the high standards of the program including demonstrating a constructive “spirit of full disclosure” to clearly communicate its financial story and motivate potential users and user groups to read the annual financial report.
GFOA is a nonprofit professional association serving approximately 18,000 government finance professionals with offices in Chicago, Illinois and Washington, D. C.
